Carroll County Scholarship Foundation

Amount varies - 30 scholarships - 1 Application due to Mr. Stanbery by 3/29/2018 -

  • Frank Beamer Scholarship - One time awad to a graduating senior who must be accepted at or will attend Va. Tech. The recipient must have demonstrated aademic ability plus extracurricular and community involvement.
  • Judge D.W. Bolen Memorial Scholarship -$500 - One time award to a graduating senior who plans to enter an area of law or law enforcement or education.
  • Brad Bowman Memorial Scholarship - $1000 -One time award to a CCHS senior who plans to attend Emory & Henry College
  • Carroll Scholarship Foundation - $500 -One time award for a CCHS senior who plans to attend any post graduate educational program.
  • Ann Cochrane Art Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a CCHS senior who plans to pursue a post secondary degree in an art related field of study. The recipient must have financial need, possess at leas a "C" academic average and have a demonstrated art ability.
  • James F. Duncan Memorial Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a CCHS senior who plans to enter a program leading to a career in marketing (sales, advertising, business, etc) CCHS shall define any other applicable award criteria. The CCHS principal (or designee) shall select the student for the award.
  • Harriett Smith Funkhouse Memorial Scholarship - $1000 (2) - One time award to two CCHS seniors who excel in the senior government class.
  • Jody A. Goad Memorial Scholarship - $1000 - One time award to a graduating CCHS senior who plans to enter a two or four year program in any discipline. Award shall be based on academics, extracurricular activities, and educational objectives.
  • Robert Heywood Hines Memorial Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a graduating senior who will be attending college and is the son or daughter of a deceased father. Award of the scholarship is based on financial need.
  • Ruth Harmon Memorial Scholarship - $250 - One time award to a graduating senior who is a member or attends Coulson Church of the Brethren. If there is no applicant meeting this criteria, then an application from a student who is a relative of a member of the Coulson Church of the Brethren will be considered.
  • Velma Bowman Horton Memorial Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a senior who plans to enter any discipline. Award shall be based on academics and financial need.
  • Gladys Lindsay Hundley Memorial Scholarship - $1000 - A four year annual renewable scholarship to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to pursue a post secondary degree in any field of study.
  • James Jessee Memorial Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who attended Gladeville Elementary School.
  • Oliver A McBride Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a CCHS senior who is pursuing a teaching career. Award is primarily based on need.
  • G. LeRoy McGrady Scholarship -$1000 - One time award to a CCHS senior who is an active member of the FFA and plans to pursue a post secondary education in an agriculture field of study. Preference is given to natural resources field (forestry, wildlife, etc.) or agricultural education.
  • Helen McGrady Memorial Scholarship - $500 -One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to seek a degree in education with a preference for someone attending Radford University. Mrs. McGrady was a long time home economics teacher for the Carroll County Public School System.
  • Gregory Fred Patton Scholarship - $500 -One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to seek a degree in law or a law related field of study. Award is based on academics and financial need.
  • Gregory Richard Phipps Memorial Scholarship -$500 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to enter a program leading to a degree in art. If there are no art applicants, the scholarship may be offered to a student in architecture, graphic design, drafting, or graphic arts related field of study. Preference will be given to applicant based on need.
  • Dr. Walter A Porter/Rotary Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to enter a career related t the medical field. A CCHS GPA of B or better is required.
  • Rotary Club of Hillsville Scholarship - $1000 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to enter a two or four year program in a business or vocational related course of study. Need is the primary criteria with "high academics" second.
  • Woodlawn Ruritan Bob Steele Memorial Scholarship - $500 -One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to enter a two or four year program in any field of study.
  • Town of Hillsville Scholarship - $500 -One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to pursue a post-secondary degree in any field of study. Applicant must be the child of an employee of the Town of Hillsville.
  • Dennis M. Quesenberry Memorial Scholarship - $500- One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to enter a two or four year degree program in any field. Financial need and good academics are primary qualification requirements.
  • James Weddle Family Memorial Scholarship - $500 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to pursue a vocational or trades career at a community college.
  • Timothy "Travis" Upchurch Memorial Scholarship - $3000 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who has partiicipated in school Athletics while a senior at Carroll County High School.
  • Staci Banks Wertman Memorial Scholarship - $2000 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to enter a program leading to a degree in special education.
  • Hazel G. Winesett Memorial Scholarship - $1000 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who intends to enter the educational field in a career/technical field or as a media specialist.
  • Bill Worrell Memorial Scholarship - $500 -One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who plans to pursue a two or four year degree program or a technical school program, has played high school baseball and is recommended for this scholarship by a coach or the CCHS principal for his sportsmanship and team loyalty.
  • VFW Post 1115 Memorial Scholarship - $500 - Two, one time awards to a graduating senior (CCHS) who is a child, grandchild, or other blood relation to a veteran who served honorably.
  • Ladies Auxiliary to Grover King Post VFW 1115 - $1000 - One time award to a graduating senior (CCHS) who is a blood relative of an honorably discharged veteran. Student with financial need is given fist preference.
